Ferrocene derivatives. Part XVII. The aminomethylation of methoxy- and dimethoxy-ferrocene

Abstract

Methoxy- and dimethoxy-ferrocene were subjected to aminomethylation. The products in the monomethoxyseries were separated after reduction of the dimethylamino-group to a methyl. Estimates of the site reactivities were obtained. Acetylation of methoxyferrocene gave isomeric acetyl(methoxy)ferrocenes which were separated after reduction to ethyl(methoxy)ferrocenes. Isomer ratios could not be obtained, but spectral comparison of the ethyl- and methyl-(methoxy)ferrocenes facilitated identification of the latter.
