The bromination of benzo[c]cinnoline: a correction

Abstract

Bromination of benzo[c]cinnoline with bromine in sulphuric acid, in the presence of silver sulphate, gives 4-bromobenzo[c]cinnoline and not the 1 -isomer. In the synthesis of the latter, a small yield of dinitrobiphenylene has been isolated from an Ullmann reaction on 3-bromo-2-iodonitrobenzene.
