The isomeric dithenyl sulphides

Abstract

Three isomeric dithenyl sulphides have been prepared by the condensation of 2- and 3-thenyl mercaptan with 2- or 3-thenyl halide in the presence of potassium hydroxide. These compounds may be oxidised to the corresponding sulphones using potassium permanganate in acetic acid.
