Abstract

5,6-Dimethoxyindoline has been obtained (a) by cyclisation of β-(6-amino-3,4-dimethoxyphenyl)ethanol and (b) by catalytic hydrogenation of 5,6-dimethoxyindole and has been demethylated to 5,6-dihydroxyindoline hydrochloride.
