Amino-alkanethiols from amino-alcohols via aminoalkyl sulphates and thiazolidinethiones

Abstract

A number of 2- and 3-amino-alkanethiols, disulphides, and related substances have been prepared from the corresponding amino-alcohols. The conversion involves esterification with sulphuric acid to aminoalkyl sulphates, cyclisation with carbon disulphide and alkali to thiazolidinethiones, and acid or alkaline hydrolysis of these.
