The acid catalysed decomposition of 4-azido-4-p-nitrophenylbutan-2-one

Abstract

Addition of hydrazoic acid to 4-p-nitrophenylbut-3-en-2-one gives 4-azido-4-p-nitrophenylbutan-2-one; acid catalysed decomposition of the latter affords 4-p-nitroanilinobut-3-en-2-one having a cis-configuration at the olefinic double bond.
