Gum tragacanth. Part III. The characterisation of three aldobiouronic acids as minor partial hydrolysis products from tragacanthic acid

Abstract

Three aldobiouronic acids, 2-O-(α-D-galactopyranosyluronic acid)-L-rhamnose, 4-O-(β-D-glucopyranosyluronic acid)-L-fucose, and 4-O-(α-D-glucopyranosyluronic acid)-D-galactose, have been characterised as minor partial hydrolysis products from tragacanthic acid. Their structural significance is discussed.
