The syntheses of mikanin, combretol, and 3,5,7-trihydroxy-2′-methoxy-flavone, and the purification of flavones by sublimation

Abstract

Allan–Robinson syntheses of 3,5-dihydroxy-4′,6,7-trimethoxyflavone (mikanin), 5-hydroxy-3,3′,4′,5′,7-pentamethoxyflavone (combretol), and 3,5,7-trihydroxy-2′-methoxyflavone (ptaeroxylol) are described. A method for the purification of flavones by sublimation in vacuo is discussed.
