Mass spectra of some fluorine-containing 1,2,4-oxadiazoles

Abstract

The mass spectra of 1-(3-phenyl-1,2,4-oxadiazol-5-yl)perfluoropropane, bis-(3-phenyl-1,2,4-oxadiazol-5-yl)-difluoromethane, 1,2-bis-(3-phenyl-1,2,4-oxadiazol-5-yl)tetrafluoroethane, and 1,3-bis-(3-phenyl-1,2,4-oxadiazol-5-yl)hexafluoropropane are reported. Although these spectra show many similar features those of the last two contain prominent M– 117 peaks which are absent from the mass spectra of the first two. Similarities between the electron-impact and thermal fragmentation patterns of the first-mentioned are noted.
