Electron-impact induced fragmentations of pyrazoles

Abstract

Mass spectra of pyrazole and its derivatives have been determined; the behaviour of these compounds towards electron impact is discussed with respect to the cleavage of the nitrogen–nitrogen linkage. The scission depends largely on the type of compound. Initial cleavage of the bond is likely to be suppressed in cases where the nitrogen is substituted.
