Thermodynamic constants of the ionisation of the acid imino-group of uridine 5′-monophosphate and poly-uridylic acid

Abstract

Thermodynamic constants of the ionisation of the acid imino-group of uridine 5′-monophosphate (UMP-5′) and polyuridylic acid (poly-U) have been evaluated at various ionic strengths and temperatures by potentiometry. The low temperature titration of poly-U is consistent with the secondary structure probably being a double-helix.
