Nuclear magnetic resonance spectra of the dimers of hexafluoro- and 2,3,3,4,5-pentafluoro-cyclopentadiene: long-range 19F–19F couplings

Abstract

The nuclear magnetic resonance spectra of perfluorotricyclo[5,2,1,02,6]deca-3,8-diene, the thermal dimer of hexafluorocyclopentadiene, and of the dimer of 2,3,3,4,5-pentafluorocyclopentadiene show large couplings assigned to spatially close fluorine atoms separated by four and five saturated bonds. Both dimers are believed to have the endo configuration.
