The synthesis and physical properties of some 4-substituted 2,2′-bipyridyls and their 1-oxides

Abstract

4-Nitro-2,2′-bipyridyl 1-oxide has been used to prepare several 4-substituted 2,2′-bipyridyls and their 1-oxides. The infrared and electronic spectra of these compounds and their basicities are recorded and discussed.
