Unstable intermediates. Part XLVI. Electron spin resonance spectra of iminoxy and nitroxide radicals formed by interaction between nitrogen dioxide and carbonyl compounds
Abstract
Compounds containing the groups –CH2–CO– or [graphic omitted]CCH–CO– react with nitrogen dioxide at room temperature to give iminoxy radicals containing the group –C(NO)–CO–. Other radicals are also frequently formed which appear, from the general form of their e.s.r. spectra, to be nitroxides. Possible structures are considered.
