Metal complexes of O-alkyl-1-amidinourea. Part II. Cobalt(II)

Abstract

A series of planar complexes of cobalt(II) with various O-alkyl-1-amidinoureas have been prepared, and characterised by magnetic and spectral studies. The data indicate that the alkyl groups of the ligand have no effect on the spectra of the complexes. A similar series of complexes has been obtained in which the ligand acquires a negative charge through the loss of a proton. These are also planar complexes and their electronic spectra can be used to obtain the ordering of the d orbitals.
