Metal–ligand frequencies in the spectra of tin complexes with triphenylphosphine oxide and triphenylarsine oxide

Abstract

Metal–ligand frequencies have been identified for complexes of triphenylphosphine oxide and triphenylarsine oxide with a range of tin(IV) halides. The tin–oxygen frequencies with the former ligand are lower (by about 0·8) than those with the latter. The difference is discussed in relation to other aspects of the co-ordination behaviour of the two ligands.
