The infrared spectra of palladium(II) and platinum(II) complexes of (±)-methionine

Abstract

The infrared spectra of [PdLCl2] and [PtLCl2][L =(±)-methionine] between 4000 and 620 cm.–1 indicate that the carboxyl group is not bonded to the central metal atom, but the expected features of the (–CO2H)2 dimeric system are only partially observed. In particular, the OH out-of-plan deformation appears as a narrow weak band, in contrast to the intense broad peak of the carboxylic acid dimers.
