Platinum complexes with unsaturated amines. Part IV. The thermodynamics of formation of complexes with some C-substituted allylammonium cations

Abstract

Stability constants for the formation of platinum(II)–olefin complexes for C-substituted allylammonium cations have been measured by a spectrophotometric method. Enthalpy and entropy changes for this reaction, obtained from the temperature-dependence of the stability constants, indicate that both steric and electronic effects are important in determining the strength of the platinum(II)–olefin bond.
