The structure of thymine photo-dimer

Abstract

The structure and stereochemistry of thymine dimer, obtained by ultraviolet irradiation of a frozen, aqueous solution of thymine, is determined by its transformation into an isomer shown to be a derivative of 3,5,9-triazatricyclo-[5,3,0,02,6]decane of cis-syn-cis configuration.
