Reissert compound studies. Part XIII. Model reactions based on 2-benzoyl-1,2-dihydroisoquinaldonitrile

Abstract

Aryl-1-isoquinolylmethyl benzoates prepared from 2-benzoyl-1,2-dihydroisoquinaldonitrile were hydrolysed to aryl-1-isoquinolylmethonols. These alcohols were oxidised to the corresponding ketones and reduced to the corresponding 1-benzylisoquinolines.
