Lichens and fungi. Part II. Isolation and structural elucidation of 7β-acetoxy-22-hydroxyhopane from Sticta billardierii Del.

Abstract

Solvent extraction of S. billardierii Del. has given two new triterpenoids. One of these is shown to be 7β-acetoxy-22-hydroxyhopane. The mass spectra and the n.m.r. spectra of certain 7-substituted hopanes are discussed. Hop-21-ene derivatives are shown to give 21α(H)-hopane (moretane) derivatives on hydrogenation.
