Studies on dextrans and dextranases. Part VII. Structures of oligosaccharides from an α-1 4-branched dextran

Abstract

Dextranases produce from the dextran of Leuconostoc mesenteroides NRRL B-1415 oligosaccharides which contain one glucose unit joined by an α-1 4-link to a glucose unit of a homologue of isomaltose. A method for locating the branching glucose unit in branched oligosaccharides is described.
