Reaction of hydrazine with some fused isoindolobenzoxazinones

Abstract

The triazepine structure, previously reported for the products obtained when hydrazine reacted with the compounds formed in a Friedel–Crafts reaction of phthalanthranilic acid with various nucleophiles, has been shown to be incorrect. The correct structures for these compounds, verified by X-ray studies, are reported, and a mechanism for their formation is suggested.
