Koenigs–Knorr syntheses with mercuric salts

Abstract

Yields of 70–96% alkyl β-D-glucopyranoside tetra-O-acetates and tetra-O-benzoates were obtained with the aid of yellow mercuric oxide and a small amount of mercuric bromide catalyst.
