Studies in the synthesis of terpenes. Part IX. The reactions of formaldehyde and acetaldehyde with ethyl cyclohexanone-2-glyoxylate
Abstract
Formaldehyde reacts in the presence of base with ethyl cyclohexanone-2-glyoxylate to give the hydrated dimer of 2-methylenecyclohexanone; acetaldehyde gives 2-ethylidenecyclohexanone.
