Studies in mass spectrometry. Part VII. Mass spectra of thiazoles
Abstract
The mass spectra of 14 thiazoles are reported and discussed. These compounds give abundant molecular ions, and fragment in a specific manner which can aid structure elucidation of an unknown thiazole. If methyl and ester substituents are adjacent (at C-4 and C-5), this feature is revealed by an “ortho-effect” on electron impact.
