Molecular polarisability. Conformations of vitamin A alcohol and its acetate as solutes in carbon tetrachloride

Abstract

Dipole moments, molar Kerr constants, refractivities, etc., are reported for all-trans-vitamin A alcohol and its acetate. Using bond polarisability data and a skeleton partly based on that deduced for β-ionone, we discuss conformations of vitamin A alcohol and its acetate as solutes in carbon tetrachloride.
