Some cyclic tetra-amines and their metal-ion complexes. Part III. Complexes of cobalt(III) with hexamethyl-1,4,8,11-tetra-azacyclotetradecane and bidentate ligands

Abstract

Complexes of cobalt(III) with a cyclic tetra-amine {5,7,7,12,14,14-hexamethyl-1,4,8,11-tetra-azacyclotetradecane (tetb)}, and with chelates occupying the remaining two octahedral co-ordination sites {[Co(tetb)CO3]+, [Co(tetb)NO3]2+, [Co(tetb)C2O4]+, [Co(tetb)en]3+, and [Co(tetb)acac]2+, where en = diaminoethane, and acac = the enolate ion of acetylacetone}, are described. The nitrato-derivative is the first reported example of chelate nitrate co-ordinated to cobalt(III).
