Salts of the d° complex anions [WOCl5]– and [WOBr5]– have been prepared and characterised by a range of physical measurements. The absorption spectra of the complexes have been measured and discussed on the basis of several molecular orbital schemes recently suggested for analogous complexes of molybdenum(V).
