Some co-ordination compounds of bis(fluoroalkyl)mercurials

Abstract

The formation of co-ordination compounds between (CF3)2Hg, [(CF3)2CF]2Hg, (C2F5)2Hg, (CF3·CFH)2Hg, and (CF3CH2)2Hg and pyridine N-oxide, tetramethylene sulphoxide, piperidine, and ethylenediamine was detected in carbon tetrachloride solution by infrared spectroscopy. The compounds [(CF3)2Hg(ONC5H5)2], [(CF3·CHF)2Hg(OSC4H8)2], [(CF3·CHF)2Hg(HNC5H10)2], {(CF3·CH2)2Hg[(CH2N)2C2H4]}, [(CF3·CH2)2Hg(ONC5H5)], and [(CF3CH2)2Hg(HNC5H10)2] were isolated and characterised; the last three are liquids at room temperature.
