Adducts of bis(dithiolato)tin compounds with Lewis bases

Abstract

The products of reaction of bis(ethane-1,2-dithiolato)tin and bis(propane-1,2-dithiolato)tin with a range of Lewis bases have been isolated. The bidentate ligands gave 1:1 adducts; the monodentate ligands gave 2:1 adducts with the exception of triethylamine, which gave a 1:1 compound. The sterochemistry of the bis(ethane-1,2-dithiolato)tin adducts is discussed and configurational assignments made on the basis of the positions of the tin–sulphur stretching bands in the infrared spectra.
