Studies in ion solvation in non-aqueous solvents and their aqueous mixtures. Part IV. Enthalpies of transfer of the alkali-metal halides from water to a 20% mixture of dioxan and water

Abstract

Enthalpies of solution have been determined for the alkali-metal chlorides and sodium and potassium bromides and iodides in 20 wt.% mixtures of dioxan in water, and enthalpies of transfer (ΔHt°) from water to this mixture calculated therefrom. The ΔHt° values are compared with those for the methanol–water system and are interpreted in terms of a structural theory of ion solvation developed in earlier Papers in this Series.
