The colour isomerism and structure of copper co-ordination compounds. Part IX. The crystal structure of NN′-ethylenebis(acetylacetoneiminato)copper(II) monohydrate

Abstract

Crystals of the monohydrate of NN′-ethylenebis(acetylacetoneiminato)copper(II) are monoclinic with a= 21·12, b= 5·62, c= 11·58Å, β= 104°, and belong to space group P21/a. The structure has been determined by two-dimensional X-ray methods. The water molecule is co-ordinated to the copper atom, which is thus quinqueco-ordinate, in a pyramidal configuration.
