Aluminosiloxane compounds. Part II. Compounds of formula C8H24Al3X5O6Si4(X = Cl or Br): structure, and reaction with sodium acetylacetonate

Abstract

The synthesis of the compound of formula C8H24Al3Br5O6Si4(I) from the reaction of octamethylcyclotetrasiloxane with aluminium bromide or with Me3Si·O·AlBr2 has been studied. With the latter, polyaluminium-organosiloxanes of formula [C2H6AlBrO2Si]n are also formed. Information has been obtained about the structure of compound (I) and its chloro-analogue, C8H24Al3Cl5O6Si4, and about their reactions with sodium acetylacetonate.
