Reactivities of aliphatic compounds toward bromine and hydrogen atoms in aqueous solution

Abstract

The reactivities of saturated aliphatic compounds toward bromine and hydrogen atoms have been measured and compared. The effect of structure and functional groups on the reactivity was investigated. The kinetic results indicate that the reaction mechanisms for both reactants involve abstraction of atoms.
