Chromium(II) chemistry. Part III. Magnetic properties of some complexes of 2,2′-bipyridyl and 1,10-phenanthroline

Abstract

Several low-spin chromium(II) complexes have been prepared, and their magnetic properties investigated between 90 and 330°K. Their magnetic moments are less than those predicted by Kotani's theory, but it has been suggested that this is probably due to electron delocalisation on to the ligands and to departures from perfect octahedral symmetry.
