Complexes of ruthenium nitrosyl trihalides

Abstract

Ruthenium nitrosyl trichloride reacts readily in ethanol with the appropriate ligands, to give stable, non-ionic, diamagnetic compounds, Ru(NO)Cl3L2, where L is represented by tertiary phosphines, arsines, and stibines, sulphides, and amines. No compounds containing other than two neutral ligands per ruthenium have been obtained except in the case of actylacetone, which yields [Ru(NO)ACl2]2. A number of iodo-compounds have also been prepared.
