The electron spin resonance spectrum of the diphenylacetylene free-radical anion

Abstract

The e.s.r. spectrum of the diphenylacetylene free-radical anion, produced by potassium reduction in dimethoxyethane and tetrahydrofuran at room temperature, has been recorded and it shows that the observed proton hyperfine splitting constants are in poor agreement with those predicted by the McConnell relationship using simple Hückel spin densities.
