Oxidation of Aliphatic Aldehydes in Dichloromethane by Solubilized Permanganate

Abstract

The oxidation kinetics of C₄–C₁₀ aliphatic aldehydes by quaternary ammonium permanganates, R₄NMnO₄ (R=ethyl, butyl and octyl), in dichloromethane is reported with special regard to the colloidal manganese(IV) intermediate.
