Progress on Perovskite Photodetectors for Optical Communications

Abstract

Optical communication technology provides abundant spectrum resources and solves the problems of high energy consumption and spectrum resource shortage faced by traditional radio frequency communication technology. The development of its core component, miniaturized high-performance photodetectors (PDs), has been fueling the demand for novel photoactive materials, among which different dimensional perovskite and large-scale array have attracted burgeoning research interest. In this report, recent advancements in perovskite photodetectors are systematically reviewed. More importantly, rigorous mechanism linkages - from microscopic configurations of perovskites to their intrinsic optoelectronic properties and to various applications are established, subsequent with detailed photodetector performance metrics, and ultimately possible application domains. This review provides a comprehensive overview of perovskite photodetectors including component and dimensional design, large-scale array and multiple application, guiding future research towards improving performance and wider applicability, making valuable resource for researchers.
