Structural and catalytic regulation in a rigid Zr-MOF through linker installation

Abstract

Reticular chemistry offers an opportunity to design and discover MOFs with unique structural characteristics and a chemical composition that can be adjusted, which is further promoted by the development of linker installation. With atomic-level precision, a range of multicomponent MOFs have been created, particularly flexible MOFs, where synergistic functional groups are precisely aligned. However, the structural and functional regulation of rigid Zr-MOFs through linker installation poses a challenge. In this work, two kinds of (bpy)Cu catalytic systems were successfully built through sequential linker installation into a rigid MOF, denoted as SIFE-1 (SIFE = Strait Institute of Flexible Electronics). The resulting SIFE-1-BPYDC(Cu) and SIFE-1-INA(Cu) MOFs not only maintain porosity but also exhibit good size-selective catalytic performance towards aerobic alcohol oxidation reactions.
