Reaction Chemistry & Engineering Emerging Investigators 2019

Reaction Chemistry and Engineering (RCE) was established as a journal with the aim of reporting cutting edge research into all aspects of making molecules for the benefit of fundamental research, applied processes and wider society. From fundamental, molecular-level chemistry to large scale chemical production, it brings together chemists and chemical engineers recognizing the central role of reaction chemistry in today's world.

Welcome to the 2019 Emerging Investigators issue. As with the previous 2017 issue, it highlights the work of early career researchers performing exciting and pioneering work at the interface of chemistry and chemical engineering. The individuals invited to contribute to this collection were selected based upon the recommendations of senior scientists from both industry and academia. They represent young and leading researchers from across the world active in the many subdisciplines along the interface of chemistry and chemical engineering, including heterogeneous catalysis, homogeneous catalysis, polymerization, continuous flow synthesis, chemical kinetics, multiphase reactions, and reactive separations. Their work spans from molecular-level chemistry to continuous flow production and it employs a broad range of techniques from purely experimental studies to quantum mechanical simulations – each study with its unique combination of chemistry and engineering. As with any regular RCE issue, the emerging investigators have chosen to publish their work across the different article types available to the Journal's authors – communications, full papers, and reviews.

It is a pleasure and an inspiration for the RCE editorial staff to highlight the ground-breaking research of some of the world's emerging researchers. We hope you will enjoy reading their contributions as much as we did.
