Visible-light-induced radical trifluoromethylation/cyclization of N-arylacrylamides with trifluoromethyl phenyl sulfone

Abstract

An efficient method for the visible-light-induced radical trifluoromethylation/cyclization of N-arylacrylamides with trifluoromethyl phenyl sulfone has been developed. This transformation benefits from mild conditions, a readily available CF₃ radical precursor and wide substrate scope. In addition, this protocol not only affords a new synthetic application of trifluoromethyl phenyl sulfone but also offers a new route to generate the trifluoromethyl radical.
