A proposal for twelve principles for LCA of chemicals

Abstract

Green chemistry, gained prominence after the publication of its 12 fundamental principles. Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) complements green chemistry by evaluating environmental impacts during the entire life cycle of products or part of it (cradle to gate). This perspective proposes 12 principles for LCA of chemicals a list of issues that should be addressed by the LCA practitioner, in a procedural way, in order to apply correctly the life cycle perspective within the green chemistry discipline.
