Polydimethylsiloxanes (PDMSs) occupy a special place among polymers due to their unique properties, including the possibility of their easy functionalization. Click chemistry reactions, in particular, the azide–alkyne cycloaddition reaction, are promising for the production of both functional siloxanes and siloxane copolymers, and for cross-linked materials. This review discusses the emergence and development of the azide–alkyne cycloaddition reaction for the synthesis and modification of polydimethylsiloxanes and structures based on them, as well as methods for introducing azide and acetylene fragments into the PDMS structure.
