Partially planar BP3 with high electron mobility as a phosphorene analog

We propose a two-dimensional BP3 crystal with a very high electron mobility of 4.6 × 104 cm2 V−1 s−1. Bilayer formation, specifically stacking pattern AA, results in an even higher electron mobility of ∼3.7 × 105 cm2 V−1 s−1, which is ∼2500 times larger than that of an α phosphorene bilayer.

This themed issue is focused on recent progress towards addressing key fundamental and technological challenges related to two dimensional materials, from novel synthesis techniques, characterization and incorporation of 2D materials, into electronic, optical, or electrochemical devices. The Guest Editors of the issue are Manish Chhowalla, Mauricio Terrones and Zhong Lin.
