Electronic structure modulation of a β-Ni(OH)2 nanocatalyst via La doping to boost urea electrooxidation

Abstract

We report a substantially enhanced urea oxidation reaction (UOR) performance of lanthanum (La)-doped β-Ni(OH)2 catalysts via a one-step rare-earth element doping strategy. The incorporation of La into the Ni(OH)2 lattice provides additional electron states derived from La 4f orbitals, enhancing electron transfer and facilitating urea adsorption-activation, thus enhancing the UOR catalytic performance.
