Emerging Bismuth Vanadate Based Biosensor Platforms for Diagnosis, Imaging, Therapy and Antibacterial Applications.

Abstract

Bismuth vanadate (BiVO₄) has garnered considerable attention as a photocatalytic material, especially for biomedical applications due to it’s narrow optical band gap, biocompatibility and facile surface functionalization. This review aids in comprehensively summarize the recent advancements in the utilization of BiVO₄-based nanostructures within nano biosensor platforms for the diagnosis, imaging, and treatment of cancer, neurological disorders, and other significant pathological conditions. Additionally, the potential of BiVO₄ photocatalysts for the photocatalytic inactivation of pathogenic microorganisms is critically examined. The review also discusses emerging strategies and existing challenges in integrating BiVO₄ into multifunctional biomedical and environmental systems.
