A Ta3N5/BN composite for enhanced photocatalytic water splitting

Abstract

Narrow-bandgap Ta3N5 nanorods were intensely supported on BN substrate to produce a composite photocatalyst using a NH4Cl-based vacuum nitridation. The charge separation efficiency of Ta3N5 was effectively enhanced due to electron transfer from Ta3N5 to the BN substrate, boosting both photocatalytic water oxidation and Z-scheme overall water splitting reactions.
