Chain-release of quinoline-based drugs from N-alkoxyquinoline prodrugs upon radiolytic one-electron reduction

Abstract

Quinoline and isoquinoline prodrugs containing N-alkoxy substituents release the quinoline drug and a reducing radical upon radiolytic one-electron reduction in aqueous solution under anoxia. The radical reduces a further prodrug forming a long chain reaction producing high concentrations of the quinolines.
